Toys and Games Books

I've heard this product described as Tide of Plastic...and it is very true. This game comes with a huge number of litle plastic pieces. Luckily, they are all really well done. This is a fun game to play. Set up for a normal game is about 30 minutes and the games themselves last from one to two hours. If you're looking for a quick pick up and play game, this really isn't it. Strategy is a huge part of how you set up your pieces, so that is why setup is so long. As you become more familiar with each unit's strengths and weaknesses, setup time will probably be cut in half. One thing to note is that many of the basic scenarios that come with the game seem to be too one sided, with one of the armies seemingly unable to win, based on how the mission is made. I don't really have a problem with this, it seems to make the historical mission more accurate in my opinion. Tide of Iron is a super fun war game and its play mechanics are more accessible than more hardcore games in the genre. I recommend it.

An excellent trip down memory lane for anyone who remembers the tin toy cars one had as a child. The Japanese evidently were fascinated by 1950s American automobiles, and they did a good job in producing these toy models. No plastic here !!

This is a very nice reference book. Rather than giving a lot of detail about one type of action figure line, it provides a little history/information on lots of action figure lines. This book literally covers 1001 well know and more obscure action figure lines... it was very fun to read/reminisce. This is a hardcover book with 100s of color photos on full glossy paper. It contains at least one picture (and usually more) of virtually every action figure line. Most of the photos are small, but still worthwhile. I was pleasantly surprised to see so much information and so many pictures in such a small book (it is about 6" by 7", 350 pages, and a little over 1" thick). I collect mostly Star Wars and Mego figures, but often come across other figures when exploring. This was the perfect reference book for such a situation. This book also provides a general value for each figure line (the estimates seemed to be at least as good as other price guides). I bought my copy used for around $5 plus shipping (it arived in PERFECT condition). But, I'd say it is easily worth twice that... maybe even more.

I am thrilled to own both this book and Theme-a-saurus II. This book is in alphabetical order and includes themes such as pigs, magnifying glasses, frogs, monkeys,feathers,dirt, cardboard tubes, dogs, flowers, rainbows and much more! They include about nine activites ,songs, food ideas and crafts for each individual theme. It is hard to pick just one because I am so excited to do them all for the preschool class I teach. Don't think just buy this book. I honestly dont think you will be disapointed. The discriptions and pictures are EASY to follow and best of all you probably already have all the materials and it needs little prep time. I have looked at a lot of books on teaching themes and some are great but not for preping for a large group of children. They are unrealistic. These ideas are realistic and educational.

Cute game, I wonder why the Toy Story people haven't sued. ;-) When I got the game my mom also got me this guide book. I didn't think I'd need it. But I would have missed SOOO MUCH! The writer found everything - including a cool snail race at the ending. Good job and if you like the game, buy the book too!

The book traces very clearly, the socio- cultural conditions that prevailed in the country in the post- mughal period. The book is one of the rare ones which has focussed its attention on issues which others have tended to ignore. However, the author should have focussed a little bit on the chronology. Regarding the style of writing the book is written in a simple and lucid form , thereby making it universally readable.

Although this guide is written for Play Station and Nintendo 64, it is also useful for the CD game written for the MAC and PC. I bought the MAC version of the game for my 5 year old son and without the guide I think we would still have Buzz running around the first level forever. The book is very well illustrated and the tips are easy to follow. The game is still quite challenging but with less frustration that can often arise. The guide is now well worn from all the use it is has received. Without it, completing the game would have been impossible.

Though this action figure does NOT come with the electronic base that all of the other 'transporter' characters do, get it anyway. You have to have the late Tasha Yar in your collection.
