Toys and Games Books

My 20 month old son received this book as a Christmas gift. It quickly became his favorite book, and today I am returning to amazon.ca to purchase the remaining books in the series. The pictures are very colourful, the flaps easy for little hands to lift, and the little children pictured throughout the book are adorable -- carrying out regular day-to-day activities, like taking a nap, washing dishes, playing dress-up, or watering flowers in the garden. I highly recommend this book to anyone parent who wants to encourage their little ones to enjoy books.

This book is really cool! It tells how to make a lot of stuff that kids love, out of simple things you have around the house. Many of them just need paper and scissors; patterns are included but you need to trace them. Scanning them and enlarging would work better but it's hard to lay the book flat enough to get a good copy. I hope if it ever gets reprinted they do so in a spiral-bound form!

My son's favorite is the helicopter-parachute made from two strips of paper. You can make it in a jiffy and it works quite well.

I used this Civil War simulations book with my own linguistically and ethnically diverse fifth grade class as well as with a group I was substituting for in the same Title I school. In both instances, this unit was a huge hit. The students were motivated and engaged the entire time and came away with a much deeper understanding of the American Civil War Era.
The book is easy to follow (thus the title) and requires little prep time. However, as with any teaching materials, I would recommend pre-reading the day's simulations so you know what to expect.

This is a great project to use with young children. The pages are sturdy and it is fun for the children to act out the story of Noah's ark after making the model.

This is a great volume for anyone who had ,has, and loves Dy-Dee Baby. I was amazed at the attention paid to details like clothing and 'baby stuff'. I had a lot of baby stuff for my Dy-Dee and her cousins, but there was a whole lot more available than I ever dreamed. That so many of these dolls have survived, is a testement to Dy-Dee's ability to inspire maternal love and nurturing. It's not only a book for collectors, but also an interesting look at marketing techniques and our culture.
Robert Tonner's motto, 'Believe in the power of play' is illustrated profoundly in this volume, and his reproduction of the Mold 1 Dy-Dee Baby, to be relaeased this fall, is a most fitting tribute to the baby doll that has captured so many hearts over the years.

My parents both worked for Borden's for many years. So Elsie and the rest of her family were a real part of my upbringing. This book brought back a ton of good memories. I bought it as a Christmas gift for my Dad, and he loved it. The photos and paper quality are really top notch, the collection very complete. There were things shown that even my folks didn't know existed. As kids, my brother and I use to play with, and eventually destroy, a lot of the items featured, not knowing at the time what treasures we had in our hands. Oh, to go back and retrieve those items. If you loved Elsie you'll love this book.

Am looking for a new Publishe

I am an ESL teacher who bought this series to help me teach science to English Language Learners. The series is written for native speakers, not ELLs, but the student pages are uncluttered, and the language is not complex. Each text includes a variety of experiments and activities to teach key science concepts.

This book is awesome. It shows you how to be a pirate. It has adventures and activities you can do. The kit came with face painting crayons, tattoos, a striped bandana, an eye patch, a pirate hat, rings, cuffs, and other cool pirate stuff. I used the face-painting crayons to draw tattoos on my brothers and myself. You can create your own pirate nickname, build a telescope, and act like a pirate. It also comes with a certificate that tells everyone you are a pirate. My favorite part was when I dressed-up like a pirate. I would recommend "My First Pirate Book & Treasure Chest" to all children who like pirates.
