I ordered this to help make the journal topics for my first grade students more interesting and fun for them. Most of the ideas are too complicated for first graders in their original state, but you can easily change them a little bit to fit your kids' abilities. This is a great resource- it makes journal writing a great activity and it saves a lot of time!

I am currently using this book in my classroom and love it. I'm a special education teacher and have found that the daily review of skills is what keeps the skills fresh for kids of all ages and abilities. It has daily lessons with the answers readily available. It's a must have for teachers! I use it as a "bell ringer" activity. The kids write the sentences in their journals with the corrections made. We go over it as a class. It's easy to do and easy to correct.

Essential Tool for Homeschoolers!

Daily Writing Prompts is a delightful find for those of us who are looking for a guide to help our students become better writers. Its purpose is simple...to help children become better writers by providing them with daily practice and a connection to literature. Sounds great, right? Well, it is...if you can come up with an interesting variety of topics on your own. This book offers a treasury of writing topics, most with accompanying literature recommendations, right at your fingertips. The idea is to develop themes and topics that are connected with literature we see everyday. Connect the topic with the titles! Now why didn't I think of that?

The author has also included a section of "mini-lessons" to help tune up the grammatical conventions associated with good writing. I found this to be a crucial element to our success. If students don't have the right tools, or components for writing (such as understanding the various parts of a sentence and how sentences work together), then how can we expect them to write fluently? These short, quick mini-lessons can be repeated often so that the skill is reinforced over time.

All in all, I found this to be a very helpful and entertaining reference tool for our homeschool. If you want your child to become a better writer while helping them to become better readers, then this will be a perfect addition to your library.

These books are a pleasure to read and to look at !

This series of books are the favourite with my 9 month old daughter and me ! We have been enjoying these books for about four months now. I even recite them to my little girl when we are out walking to squeals of delight.

I have borrowed a lot of books from the library, so you could say I have done a lot of "road testing". I find the Daisy series to be in a different league to everything else. The illustrations in the Daisy series are delightful and the words are like poetry.

Danielle 3 Dimensional Paper Dolls and Trunk
Helpful Votes: 3 out of 3 total.
Review Date: 2000-08-14
Danielle is part of The Keepsake Collection of three-dimensional paper dolls based on classic, antique dolls. She is based on a French bebe created by Emile Jumeau around 1880. The costumes can be worn with any doll in the series. (Only one other doll is named - Aimee.) The doll, her trunk and some of her accessories are printed on glossy card stock. The outfits are printed on glossy paper. The colors are brilliant; the dresses are lovely. She has a red, fur-edged coat. Her dresses have plenty of buttons and bows and lots of lace. They range in color from emerald and blue to purple and deep peach. She has six different outfits in all. She has a portfolio to hold her accessories. She has a black trunk to hold her outfits. Unfortunately, the trunk won't hold Danielle. Her main body is 8 inches tall with another 2 to 3 inches for her head. The trunk is only five inches long and 3 and ½ inches wide when assembled. This isn't a paper doll for young children. Danielle and her trunk are quite intricate to put together. There are two pages of instructions at the back of the book. You'll need scissors and glue. The author recommends a Low temperature glue gun for card stock items and a glue stick for the outfits. Optional items you may need include a pencil, clear tape and an x-acto knife. Danielle consists of a stand, a cone-shaped main body and a head. Her outfits have both an underskirt and an over dress. She and her outfits have a back and a front. You have to dress her before you put her head on. The trunk is really a box when you put it together. This is a wonderful collectible paper doll.

This resource has captured the essence of the complete middle school program and provided suggestions on how to implement the separate components of a middle school program. It addresses the research to publication date in support of middle grades as well as entire middle school program. Administrative teams will find this an invaluable tool in attempting to educate staff and parents about the program and what to consider when implementation is desired.

I purchased this book for my father for a gift and he absolutely loves it. He sat down immediately and started to read the book and plan out how he was going to make his first rocking horse. The book is filled with so many pictures and great illustration. If you are interested in learning how to make the rocking horses, this is the book to buy. My dad loves it and I can't wait to see his finished product!

Practical guide for implementing an MI classroom
Helpful Votes: 43 out of 44 total.
Review Date: 1999-12-11
This book gave great suggestions on implementing an MI classroom. The author includes suggested activities, literature lists, and centers for each type of intelligence. There are suggestions for arranging the classroom in order to ensure a MI environment. The strategies for projects and assessment were also very useful. This book included many reproducibles for teachers to use for planning and assessment, and questionnaires for students and parents. This is a terrific resource!
