Finally after years of writing for some of the biggest car and model magazines in the country, Tim Boyd has ponied up with a book that, by itself, will become a treasured collector's item. This overview of model kit collecting offers advice, history, superb photos, value estimates, box art, and some wonderful built examples. Although the format limits the depth of coverage, this book is among the best on model car kit collecting. That it couldn't cover more categories is the only disappointment.

Well worth the price, and a must-have for your modeling library.

John Marshall is THE toy guru, and his opinion is highly respected. This book is no exception. Informative, entertaining, and nostalgia all in one package. Really, not to be missed.

this book is very neat! it contains all information about all of the 150 pokemon, the values of each pokemon card,and has the values on pokemon toys and collectors items. this book tells you why pokemon is so fun, and teaches you what exactly pokemon is all about. it even has some history about pokemon making its fame into japan. this book is really handy because it tells you the exact values of all 150 pokemon and if you want to start collecting, how you want to start and what you want to look for. this was handy for me because when i wanted to collect, i knew which cards and toys to get. it also has big pictures of the pokemon in color. i'm very pleased!

This is a wonderful book filled with lots of color photos of the earliest Kewpies. Since the authors are members of Rose O'Neil's family, they concentrate on the Kewpie figures, dolls, and dishes that were made under the supervision of Rose herself. If you are a Kewpie fan, this book is for you. The prices given are for 2003.

Prof. Dundas has finally created a really helpful and informative book on the subject. The images are by far the clearest and most comprehensive, a real bang for the buck. Other books on yo-yo's are unfortunately poor in image quality or poorly organized. This is really the best!

This book is a must have for toy soldier collectors. It has a very representative listing of varous toy soldiers, with excellent photographs. The section on Britains in particular is very worthwhile. This book is always open and by my side when I'm shopping on eBay.

It is a marvelous addition to any collector's library.

Small but packed with how-to for the colored pencil artist. I particularly liked the Technique and Practice section where I learned about using hatching, ringed shading, and using the direction of the stroke.
The advice is practical, compact and to-the-point, and the illustrations show what can be accomplished with this medium. I'm trying to do nature journaling and was pleased with the help it gave me for drawing flowers and animals using tones and surface textures.

As the author of many books on antique and collectible toys myself, I know when PASSION and LOVE for a genre of collecting drives a book, and Doug and Pat Wengel have done just that with this incredibly beautiful book. Sand pails and sand toys have ALWAYS been a hot commodity among both tin toy and general toy enthusiasts, but COMIC CHARACTER SAND TOYS have helped to drive the market! Doug and Pat have brought us this EXCEPTIONAL book on a subject that has rarely been dealt with in such detail. The photos are FABULOUS and their examples from advanced collections are a treat for the eye. If BEACH TIN interests you, or even if you are just getting started...this is a WONDERFUL BOOK!
