Toys and Games Books

As a primarily modern Betsy collector, I was thrilled at the vast amount of information on the Tonner Betsy dolls, and loved seeing the vintage outfits and dolls pictured in the book. Marci has really done her homework, this is one fabulous book!

This game is the best bible trivia game that I have ever seen. It has a similar set up to the most popular secular trivia games. It's game pieces are lamp posts and it's "pie pieces" are hoops. The board has the books of the bible set up as the places that you move to, and is color-coded by catagory, such bible characters, places, etc. It's a challenge for all levels and ages. As the rules stand...Is even challenging for the advance student. To play with younger students, the game encourages you to modify the rules and gives pointers on how to do so. Great for bible studies, family gathering... or to quiz one's self.

I started playing trivial pursuit with my 7 and 9 year old daughters and found that the game was so esoteric and, well, trivial that I wanted to find a way to build their biblical knowledge or at least something edifying. Well these index sized cards were perfect. They not only provide questions and answers but also the reference in scripture where you can look up the answer or do what we include in our games as an "open book" challenge. We use the trivial pursuit board and pieces and use the Bible Quiz Masters questions. My kids love it and it has helped their bible surfing. The cards and the plastic holder are also very handy.

"The Big Bear Book" is indeed one big book! But, don't let the size fool you. The text in this book is minimal compared to the size of the book. It reviews the history of teddy bears and gives a paragraph description of many of the main manufacturers. It also includes a chapter with information teddy bear events, museums, and shops. Famous teddy bears and notable teddy bear people are also mentioned.

What I love most about this book are the full color photos that fill almost every page of this book. Sidebars identify the bears shown, and suggest a value for the bear. Some bears are shown simply, without scene or setting, but many are shown with props, or even in the out of doors! Most of the bears are traditional, historic or famous bears (such as Alfonzo, and Winnie the Pooh) and many of those are Steiff. There are some artist bears included in this book, but they also resemble their traditional bookmates.

This is a great coffee table book for teddy bear lovers. I have a bookshelf full of teddy bear books, and this one is a book I reach for again and again when I want to enjoy wonderful photographs of the bears of my dreams.

Package of very large pipe cleaners comes with a small booklet that contains directions in step format for 6 projects. Steps are numbered and easy to follow. The Elephant has the most detail. With a few changes you could make a life-size mouse. Package makes, chick, bunny, lobster, alligator, elephant, clown. A child of 8+ could probably make these projects alone or with little help.

Extremely useful book to aid in Biology class or to use as a review. Highly recommend.

Excellent book for presenting not just objects with color but the feelings colors give us.

Replaced Kill Doctor Lucky and Carcassonne as our new favorite game. My wife and I love to play board games and this one is perfect. Things we like about the game.
1) Theme - different fantasy races trying to rebuild their beautiful city. Gorgeous artwork on cards and game tiles bring this game to life.
2) Well constructed - game tiles/pieces are made with quality and the cards are holding up nicely even after well over 10 games worth of shuffling.
3)Perfect Moderate Pace - Not super fast and not annoying slow. Each turn takes about a minute or so, most of the time you know what you want to do before it gets to your turn.
4) Strategy! you have to think ahead with your cards and board movement, a lot of times you have more than one option, but trust me, it isn't headache complicated.
5) Never the same game twice! - move the tiles and shape the city any which way you want, hindering movement to certain areas or creating possible higher/lower finished tile combos.
6) Not a lot of Fiddly bits. The game doesn't have you control a bunch of game pieces. I find this confusing in other games, trying to remember everything you have.
We are yet to play it with our friends, who also love the other two above games. Should be very interesting in a 3/4 player game.
