Toys and Games Books

I found that this book would be great to use to introduce a weather bear in a pre-K or Kindergarten class. The book follows the decisions Bear makes when he gets dressed in the morning. Three articles of clothing are given to choose from and then we find out what Bear picked. His decisions are based on how the weather is. I think this is a good book to help young children learn how to chose appropriate close for the weather. I highly recommend it.

A bear of My Own is an excellent guide to the craft of bearmaking. The language is easy to understand for the less experienced. Rotraud Illisch's guide for pattern design is excellent and easy to understand. The whole bear is taken into prospective from design to placement. This is a wonderful book for bear designers.

Bear reminds me of the Velveteen Rabbit, only more charming, if you'll believe that. It has its frights, but nothing too bad can happen in a story with a teddy bear as a major character...or can it? I recommend this one for all ages.

Transformers are back. Jobie Alvarez is back! This book is a Beast (no transformers pun intended)! The Quadrilogy is complete! It's this book story about these two Beast Transformers who fall in love with one another. They want to have a baby Transformer but can't conceive on earth do to The Dreadknocks. So they adopt this baby girl Transformer from the Planet Naboo but they are kind of pensive since the baby is missing a converter and can't change from a Chevy Malibo into robot form. So all the baby girls' friends think she's mentally challenged and is banished to the retarded transformer school with the rest of the challenged. Professor Xavier uses his mind meld to melt cheese and turn the Transformer family into cheese. But they stop him and enroll their adopted girl Transformer child into regular school where like Lindsay Lohan in Mean Girls finds that life as a teenager has it's ups and downs. And the girl Transformer is really hot and just needs a makeover to become Queen of the High School prom. So that's just what happens and she becomes Queen and gets a new Chevy Malibu as a graduation gift from her parents which is odd because essentially she's a Chevy Malibu forced to ride in a Chevy Malibu. Is Jobie Alvarez a good writer or what. He rocks and so does this book!

Jobie Alvarez knows how to create a story in the Beast Transformers universe and again melts your pupils with exquisite words and adjectives. I highly recommend this book. I recommend all 4 of them. I stack all 4 up and put chairs on them. They make me feel taller. Sometimes I take chucks of the books and stuff them in my shoes. It's like a 3 for 1 offer when you buy this book. And if Jobie signs it for you one day you can sell it on Ebay for half it's value! It's hot. It's Transformers. It's now. It's Jobie. It's most Alvarezie!

I wanted to make a cloth doll that a child would be able to play with and love. I don't have much experience at that so I checked into instruction books. What made this one stand out to me was the picture on the cover. These dolls have such beautiful faces. This is definitely not a book for beginners. You need to have some experience at sewing, and being able to draw is a plus, as the facial features are drawn right on to the fabric. I found the instructions clear and fairly easy to follow. It took time and patience, but the doll turned out beautiful. I recommend this to anyone with a background in sewing. fiber arts, and/or general art.

We bought this book for our son when he was first born and have read it to him constantly. He just loves it! The fiber optics fireworks display is really nice and it keeps him entertained even when he is feeling fussy. Great book! I highly recommend it.

I use this book in my private tutoring business to help students pass standardized reading tests. The author uses short reading passages and then asks questions about the main idea, details, vocabulary in context, and inferences. My students score higher on reading tests after they understand how questions are structured.

I didn't expect much when I ordered this and the corresponding social studies workbook. What a nice surprise! Really nice activities that encourage thought and exploration. The book starts on the subject of mammals, then moves into birds, and on from there to other animal families and beyond. The nicest part is that we had just begun watching the documentary series "The Life of Mammals" as part of our home curriculum when this came! The material is very grade appropriate, both here and in the social studies workbook. I highly recommend this and any other book from this company. Far more than I expected for the price!

I wasn't expecting much when I ordered this "bargain" book, but it really is a bargain! The lessons cover pretty much everything that is expected at this grade level, and they are rather fun. The style of the activities varies as you go through the book, which keeps boredom to a minimum. This is a really good addition your homeschool curriculum, or to keep your kids from losing what they learned during the summer.

Great pictures and step by step procedures for lessons with Social Studies content. Great resource that I know I will be using throughout the school year.
