This is a wonderful book to help children learn about Australia. It's beautifully illustrated too!

I need more than 5 stars to adequately describe just how good this book is. If you are even remotely considering building and/or decorating a Georgian or Regency dollshouse, you must purchase this book. It fills many gaps left by other books of its kind - where else would you learn how to build an authentic fire crane and spitjack for the kitchen, a service crane and lamp snuffer for the front fence, and downpipes progressively dated? His attention to period accuracy is unsurpassed, covering the development of items such as the kitchen range and toilet through the age and a host of other important features. Brian Long has saved me weeks of research, thoroughly exploring every room and household function and the associated equipage, which is a particular boon for builders of this kind of house who live outside of England. Although he gives many useful suggestions for doing your own research, all but the most particular of dollshouse perfectionists will not need any other source. Plans for several houses are included, (including the one on the cover)although many builders would also need some prior experience and a good book devoted to the topic. I wish a book like this existed for every period. Brian, if you're reading, please start planning a library of these. Begin with the Tudor period and just keep going!

Well written, directions clear and patterns to appropriate scale to fit collector dolls. Excellent range and choice of costumes to suit favorite characters played by Shirley Temple. Need to have some knowledge of sewing, most beginners should have no trouble.

The activities are easy and fun. I love the pictures in this book too.

This is a wonderful book with beautiful photography that explains a lost colorful segment of Americana. The author has done a loving and thorough job of research.

The only difficulty, and it doesn't detract much, is that the writing style assumes a bit of familiarity with these machines so if you're new at it, as I was, it takes a bit of time to understand some of the detail available, and the author goes into ALOT of detail about the various machines. So, it's an enjoyable read like a delicious super-rich dessert -- you'll enjoy it, but you have to read it slowly.

On the other hand, you can just skim the beautiful photos whenever you want to be taken back to a bygone era.

My son - who, sadly, does not usually like books - loves this one. The illustrations are beautiful. And it is a great book to read before bed. I highly reccomend it!

this is the best cookbook. Even my Grandma liked it!!

I decided to write this review because I don't believe that this product that is featured here is just the book; it's more than that, and quite fun!

I purchased this product at a store and have compared the UPC code of this to the item featured here; they are identical.

What you'll get is a box with a hardback book inside (has Monkey and product trivia and games) as well as a SPECIAL Barrel of Monkeys: sixteen plastic, silver-colored Monkeys as well as a black plastic barrel. If there's someone out there that really enjoys Monkeys then this will be a real treat for them! I purchased it as a stress-relieving toy for work, but I think I'll get the regular toy to keep at work and save my silver Monkeys at home where they'll be safe.

The Amazon.com price is better than the retail price; I think it is reasonable when you consider you get the book included with the barrel. Enjoy the Monkeys. :)

I bought this adorable book for my 2 year old. Its of course very sweet and has pullout "valentines" that Raggedy Ann has made for all of her friends...some of which are stories, riddles, and even a board game to play (candy hearts and not included). Although its a bit above a 2-yr old's level, my daughter still enjoyed the story and thought that pulling out all of the valentines out was a blast. Raggedy Ann fans (big or small) will certainly not be dissapointed.
