My daughter loved this book for months. We started reading it to her when she was about 6 months old (or younger) and by 12 months she was identifying many of the animals and colors along with us. At 19-months its not her favorite book, but she still asks us to read it from time to time.

Simple, engaging, beautiful illustrations, genuis rhyming pattern that makes sense, and gets child excited to turn the page to see what's next. A teacher's and parent's dream. Just a wonderful book that is engaging and teaches words/sounds. Doesn't get better than this.

We've used this for learning colors, rhyme and animals. It's predictable so even the youngest can figure out what comes next. We often sing a song with it and use a flannel story as well.

Every young child should have this book read to them over and over again.

During bathtime, I can offer my 22-month old son no other book; he will *always* ask for "Dog-Go!", and has consistently done so for many months. It's a great book for learning the basics of language... and the kids love it.

We all have this book memorized. One son wanted it read out loud every day, several times a day, for many months. It's colorful, fun, silly, and has great rhymes. It also teaches color and direction (like up, down, over, etc).

Another wonderful read-aloud, but excellent for beginning readers to use as well.

Obviously not a M.W. Brown book!

Review Date: 2009-06-24
The illustrations are simple and lovely in this book. The text, however, is very poorly written with a tense that changes randomly. The book contains whole sections which do not fit the flow of the story - a rather sorry accomplishment in a board book. This book was a manuscript that M.W. Brown left when she died unexpectedly at a young age. The co-author then edited the manuscript and the publisher put it out. Read Run-Away Bunny instead for classic Margaret Wise Brown

This is a great children's book! Even though my son is only 4 months old he enjoys looking at the pictures and listening to my voice when I read him the story. The pictures are nicely done. They are colorful and clear which I think children really respond to. Also the story, when read aloud, is melodic, which is pleasing to children.

I read this book to my daughter from the time she was one; she is now six. Now she gets a thrill out of reading it herself. My son is two years old; he is also eager for story time, and it is also one of his first picks. The kids love exploring the illustrations, and each time noticing something new. As a mother, I enjoyed reading this book to my children. It is wonderful, charming and memorable.

Dr. Seuss' Fox in Socks is by far one of my three most favorite books from childhood. What great detail is to be found in the illustrations, classic fantastic images on page after page, which, alone, are worth the price of the book. however, it has words and somewhat of a plot. for us old geezers, the font is big enough to see! It contains many episodes between that pesky Fox wearing socks and Mr. Knox. As with all of Dr. Suess' writings, it contains numerous tongue-twisting pages that bring out howling and laughter in our home. Of course, it's usually dad who'se the subject of the laughter. [a word of advice: parents, never reading this book after an exhausting day or after you've taken sleeping medicine or you'll embarrass yourself with tonge twisters.] This book holds a special, magical place in my heart, so, with great bias, I highly recommend it for everyone who is or was a kid and I give this an A+.

I absolutely love this book! One of my favorite Dr. Seuss books, I've read this to my daughter for years and still never get tired of it. I love the tongue twisters and the funny pictures (no pun intended), and it's always a game to see how fast I can read it. I've actually memorized a few pages by heart. I hope my daughter will still want me to read this to her even after she's old enough to read on her own. I would recommend my second favorite Dr. Seuss book: Oh Say Can You Say. Another classic book that will keep your tongue in knots!

My son tends to lose his lessons if he doesn't practice them; he also isn't one who enjoys learning. I have tried to trick him into doing things that are fun, but also will help him practice the things that he needs to learn and take with him after Kindergarten, and it doesn't take him long to see through the fun to the work.

My husband and I have bought a ton of programs for the computer and many workbooks. This is the first workbook he actually enjoys doing. Mixed in with the obvious lessons meant to educate are some activities that also teach but he thinks are just for fun. For example, there are pages to practice and write your letters, then in between those pages you have some mazes and pictures that are color by letter. He thinks they are just for fun, a break in between the learning.

Table of Contents:
ABC's
Phonics
Spelling and Vocabulary
123's
Shapes and Colors
Patterns
Matching and Sorting

Brain Quest Extras (includes a deck of flash cards, a brainiac certificate, stickers and a clock poster)

This has a lot of activities to keep your child occupied and his brain working. As soon as he is done with this one I plan on getting the one for the 1st graders. It's a sturdy book with colorful pages and large print. It's been very helpful for our family keeping our son interested in learning. Highly recommended.

There's much to like about this book. The exercises are fun and cover a great deal of the ground your kindergartner sees in school. Moreover, one can tell from the first that a great deal of thought, by actual teachers and parents, went into its creation. The book is large and easily handled by small hands. Perforated pages allow you to take out what you wish for trips without having to lug it about. Sometimes you may want to use it to bond with your child, and do activities together. Other times you may need a moment, and can let your youngster work by themselves. Either way, I think you'll find it more than worth the price.

I've used this book with my 3 year old doing a couple pages from each section each day. It's been very good for her learning level. One thing I've noticed about this book vs. other workbooks (flash kids) She not been overwhelmed by the amount of writing required. Personally I don't think it's quite enough knowledge for coming into kindergarten but, it's a good starting point for a young child and parent to work through.

Then you can see what you child is lacking in and get additional books in areas that they seem to need a bit more work.

It has been fun for her and she learning little bits everyday from it. A+

Great review for him though. Perfect book for Pre-schoolers. Also, this book is HUGE, it will last a long time!!

Review Date: 2009-03-19
I ordered this book for my 2.5 year old son to use (with my help of course, since he can't read yet :)). This book is very thick and is jam=-packed with multiple sections to focus on letters and numbers and shapes as well as phonics, etc. It has some instructions as far as to color certain objects a particular color, or to count and circle the objects that have a particular amount in them. My son does pretty well counting to 10, but this concept was a bit above him at this time. He more recently has shown an interest in going through this book with me again and has been doing more.

But even though it is slightly ahead of his age, it is a still a good book to for him to identify objects and count, as well as learning to identify his letters. It just may be awhile before he can follow the instructions in the book. That will come later and I think this book will keep him busy for awhile.

Besides, it's a great exercise for your arms.. try it for a couple of hours and you'll see the effects!

I bought this book after seeing a few friends juggling and finding the book on sale at my local Borders store. I didn't think it would take me long to get the hang of throwing and catching three beanbags and now, almost 6 months after buying the book, I am quite proficient with a 3 ball cascade, making a few catches with a 4 ball fountain, and I've been bought juggling clubs!

I would recommend this book to anyone wanting to get into juggling, for fun or sport, it's simple to use and fun to follow along with. The only thing I do not like is that the book's format makes you wish it was spiral bound or bound in a way it can easily be laid flat.

I loved the hole pack. I was trying to find a cheap set of juggling balls to to start learning, when I saw this pack i didn't notice that the beanbags weren't balls but cubes and I was a bit worried at first. Anyway they are great, well balanced, with the right weight, and the unusual format is perfect to beginners, since you will drop them a lot they won't roll away from you like the rounds' ones.

Within an hour of getting this book, I was able to juggle ( though not skillfully at all)three balls. Granted, I've had a little bit of prior juggling experience from years and years ago, so I wasn't totally unfamiliar with the motions. The instructions were very clear and so were the illustrations after I used a hi-liter to keep track of the otherwise black and white balls.

I loved this one growing up. Really. Amelia Bedelia always choose the funniest possible interpretation of words, and her name rhymes! What's not to love?

The one thing I'd be concerned about is that a lot of the usages in this book are going to be unfamiliar to your young kid. I don't think many of us say "draw the curtains" anymore, and even if we do, we probably don't often talk about "trimming" steak (with or without lace!) or "dressing" chicken, at least, not around our kids. Maybe we should, but we don't.

So this book might be better saved for read-aloud time than read-alone time.

A fun (and funny) book which will delight kids with Amelia's well-intentioned but mistake-laden chores. Kids feel empowered because they are 'smarter' than the character and are able to cheer her on. In the end, Amelia's good deeds overpower any mistakes she makes.

I recommend this book for any child who is beginning to read on their own!

This is surly a kids favorite since I was a little girl! We join Amelia Bedelia as she starts her first day of work for the Rodgers. They rush off shortly after she arrives, but they've left her a list of things to do. Should be a snap, as all the tasks are simple and clearly stated...but that's what you think...Amelia Bedelia begins completing each chore in quite a literal fashion...drawing the drapes and much, much more! Younger kids (1-4) will like the silliness of it and beginner readers and more savvy grade schoolers (5-8) will like that's it's simple and clever/silly too! I recommend it without reservation! I'm sure Amelia will be with us, teaching fine lessons about the words we use and the many means they can have for generations to come!

I ordered this item in the hopes to teach my speech-delayed son more sign language. I was an elementary school teacher for over ten years and this product was overwhelming! The songs are way too fast! Then you have to refer to the book while listening to the song and then supposedly teaching your child- UGH! It would be beneficial if the book came with a dvd showing the signing along with the songs...

We love the upbeat original songs and my 2 1/2 year old requests this cd to be played when we're getting bored in the house. I came home one day to find the kids dancing with our nanny. Needless to say, whether for signing or pure enjoyment it is a great product everyone can enjoy together. Parents will find that the songs are easy enough to remember to sing along and practice signs when changing diaper, feeding time, bath time, etc... which are perfect routine activities to introduce signs to your baby and toddler. As an instructor who has seen participants enjoy the activity book and cd I highly recommend the item. www.sign4baby.com

When I placed this item on my wish list, I relaly didn't expect anyone to buy it for me for Christmas, which is why I was so happy when a friend and his wife actually ordered it for me. Unfortunatly, this is where the drama began. First, the seller reported that they were backordered. Ok, I can handle that, so I waited. Next, it was being shipped, but then the order was canaceled and now the item is only available for over twice the original price. If I wanted to deal with this sort of issue, I would order through EBAY. I don't intednd to order anything like this agian from this seller or Amazon.

This is a really nice piece to add some visual pop to your D&D minis collection. It is quite a bit bigger than any of the other dragon minis, and the attachable fire breath really ups the intimidation factor. You'll probably never use it in a game, but why not strike a little fear into your players' hearts anyway?
