The editors have divided the commentary into a number of topics including employment, rape and sexual assault, and reproductive rights. Each section includes an extensive introductory overview and a range of articles on the topic collected from the past twenty years. This volume in an excellent and informative source for anyone interest in feminism, legal theory, or women's issues. I particularly enjoyed the richness of the connections between theory and real life women's experiences.

This is a terrific book! I read it with my 9 year old daughter and 7 year old son. The story describes the personal integrity and strength of Dr. McClintock, both as a child and as a adult. It describes the difficulty of a girl in the 1920's who doesn't aspire to be a docile, married, domestic woman. As an adult, she is intellectually brilliant but has difficulty getting recognition for her discoveries. Thirty years after her most significant discovery, she receives a Nobel Prize for it. The books reads well, lets the reader feel the emotion of McClintock's difficulties AND gives an indepth enough explanation of her genetic research so my 9 year old could understand it and want to know more about it. It was not condescending - didn't oversimplify the concepts.

This is a great book for a detailed introduction to reproduction. It contains all the proper terms for male and female anatomy along with simple non-offensive illustrations. The anatomy is diagramed, and the hows of intercourse are explained in words, but there are no diagrams of intercourse. It goes into specific detail about human reproduction and sexual intercourse in a very easy-to-understand format for elementary-aged children. This book explains the anatomy and the hows of reproduction from intercourse up to birth with just the facts, without comments about love, marriage, or religion, so anyone who wishes to explain the specific details to a child could do so with this book and then add one's own beliefs to supplement it. It is out of print, but not out of date.

The "Best of Suzanne Ciani" songbook is a compilation of fifteen pieces from several of Ciani's recordings. Five of the pieces have not appeared in print before, and most of the other ten have revisions from previous books. Three pieces are from Ciani's most recent album, "Silver Ship" ("Dentecane," "For Lise," and "Snow Crystals"), and "Celtic Nights" and "Pretend" appeared on "Pianissimo 3." Suzanne Ciani does her own sheet music transcriptions, so these pieces are the way she plays them, not someone else's interpretation, which is always a plus. Most of the revisions to the songs from earlier songbooks are small, but it's interesting to note that the version of "Turning" that appeared in Ciani's songbook of that name is in the key of Db which was for the singer on that recording. This new version is in the original key of E, which is the solo piano version as Suzanne plays it. No "best of" collection would be complete without "The Velocity of Love" or "Anthem," and both songs are here, as are "Butterflies," "Berceuse," "Full Moon Sonata," "Go Gently," "La Mer," "Meeting Mozart," and "Sogno Agitato" - all Ciani classics. I would put the playing level range of the music from upper intermediate to fairly advanced, but there should be something for just about everyone in this lovely book. Recommended!
