I just received this book and took the time to carefully look through it. Unbelievable! Beautiful quilt patterns with clear, concise, easy directions. Even includes up to 3 ideas per project for quilting. All of the quilts are pieced with a couple of Applique quilts thrown in for good measure. Just about every project is listed in 4 sizes. Sprinkled throughout the book are helpful hints to make quilting easier. I own other scrap quilt books and wish I'd seen this one first because I would Not have bought any others! Excellent book!!

I had been frustrated with previous scrap quilt and fat quarter quilt books that often called for significant yardage of certain fabrics, and then a few small pieces of fabric. I need something to do with all my bits and pieces--when I have lots of yardage, I'll go with a conventional pattern, thank you! This book is chock full of interesting quilts that truly utilize your scrap collection. I can easily pick out eight or ten quilts that I'd like to do from this book--usually it's hard to find more than five from any given publication that one actually wants to try. The book is well-laid out, too, and the patterns are easy to follow and able to be completed in a reasonable amount of time. I now grin gleefully whenever I get new scraps, because thanks to this book, I have plans for them!

The thing is, all the books out there call for you to have, literally, HUNDREDS of different floral fabrics available. Well, if you are rich as Crosus, or own a quilt shop that specializes in florals, that may be easy. But me? No way! I love the look, but panic at the idea of having to find that many little pieces of fabrics (you usually only need a few square inches of each for your quilt).

Then, along comes Dina, and suddenly, the world opens up! These are beautiful quilts, and from them the ideas simply pour for other patterns using Dina's beautifully simple technique. Put your gridded layout on the wall, cut up 3 to 5 fabrics (one a simple background fabric) and you are on your way to something that looks like you slaved away on for days!

Hooray for Dina, and all those wonderful quilters out there who make even the beginning quilter feel brilliant, and lets the advanced quilter do something fun and easy with fabric she has laying around waiting for just the right use. Your friends and family will never know you didn't spend hours choosing just the right fabrics and slaving away!

And remember, Christmas is coming - these little beauties whip up FAST, and look like a million bucks - the perfect thing to impress the mother-in-law or that difficult to please 'has it all' girlfriend!

I have had my book since it first came out, have made several quilts from these patterns, and am using her idea to do some other quilts in different themes with the same idea. Brilliant!

I've never bought a book on quilting before but just *had* to have this one, and I'm glad I did! I used Dina's method of quilting for making a lovely three heart wall hanging, but never thought I was capable of making a whole quilt. Well, that all changed when I read Quick Watercolor Quilts. The author does such a great job of explaining no stitch quilting. Even a novice like me can enjoy quilting with this book as a guide! So many of my freinds have asked to borrow my copy, I'm picking up another one just to loan out! I can't wait to read Pappas' other books! Thanks so much for your insight Dina--you're on my all time favorites list!

I have and have read a bunch of watercolor/colorwash/impressionist quilt books. My head is swimming with theory. They all begin with color and pattern theory (and they are all different) with levels and layers of categories, and when you think you've got it, you haven't. By being very specific and limited, this book enables you to take off on your own successfully. I think it is a better springboard for your own creativity - and initial success as opposed to hits with misses - than the more technically difficult and detailed. They are all beautiful but to actually see one and reproduce it successfully, I'd have to say this is the book to go with, and then go on to the more elaborate ones if you want.

The fuse, fold and stitch method of quilting can be used to make quilts other than watercolor. The seams are perfect and all corners match beautifully. This is one method of quilting that you must try.

I have now made 2 wallhangings from this book. Easy-to-follow instructions made putting these together a breeze. I had only been quilting just under a year when I attempted these. My fellow quilters were quite impressed and even borrowed the book from me. I saw this book with a demonstration on a TV quilting show. I just saw a second book which I intend to buy very soon. Happy Quilting!

The book was in good shape. I wish the book were a little more explicit about how to actually do the various projects. I think it assumes that I know about this type of quilting, and I don't. Even after looking it over, I'm still uncertain how to begin. The projects look fascinating, so I'd really like to do some of them.

I've now made two quilts from this book. Everyone who sees them is amazed at the seeming complexity and beauty of the designs and the interplay of the colors. I was always intimidated by sewing curves, but this method makes it simple and fairly foolproof. But I was most surprised by how much fun it was. I found myself literally running from the cutting table to the design wall to try out various placements for each block. I've been quilting for less than four years and the projects went together exactly as described in the book. Follow the directions and you'll be amazed with what you can do.

Highly recommended for a beginner quilter who wants to create a successful project the first time around. The basic lessons are clear, precise and generously illustrated to make the process easy and pleasurable to learn. You can see a skillful educator behind the creation of this book. I would think this is a good book to use with youngsters who want to learn to make quilts. The basic project and it's 15+ variations teach way to think about quilt design in way that would provide a solid foundation.

I just got 90-Minute Quilts yesterday. It has so many beautiful and creative quilts in it. I have picked up many tips and ideas already! It's a wonderful book, especially as to the self-binding border technique and the fabulous fabric pattern ideas. You really have to see it to believe it! Meryl Ann Butler truly is an artist. This book has gotten my creativity juices flowing. Making a quilt in 90 minutes is an awesome concept - I can't wait to get started!

I would have rated this one more, but felt that there were certain types of projects missing in this book. I don't know for sure if I could do all these in 90-minutes or not, but they are simple and easy quilts you can at least do in a day (if you have a day!) Don't look in here for special 9-patch quilts or anything fancy. You won't find that in this book. However, there are some cute quilts from doll quilts, wall hanging type quilts to real bed quilts that someone can make. I think you could even use some scrap fabrics for some of the ideas in this book. There's even a Tic-Tac-Toe board and Checker Board Quilt patterns! I love the open binding where you can lay it flat to look at. I hope more quilting books will be like this one.

I've had this book for over a year now and I am so glad it is in my collection. I have only made one afghan from it so far, but I have made swatches for a couple of other afghans I'm considering. (I would love to try one of the cable afghans.) I sometimes enjoy just looking at the photos in the book. All the afghans are great looking and are nicely photographed.

There is a great variety of afghan styles to choose from among the 52 (!) afghans: classic, bold, lacy, serene, intricate, simple, handsome, and sweet. Some afghans are done as a whole cloth, others in squares or strips. Some patterns even include weaved strands of yarn to form a plaid look. The color pattern on the Blended Rainbow afghan is very clever.

Most patterns call for worsted weight yarn or worsted weight brushed acrylic yarn. None call for one of the trendy premium yarns, which while fun to use, could be unavailable next year. The instructions are relatively simple, most fitting on just one page of the book. (Only a few are a bit more complicated.)

Because you are working with two strands of yarn (either two of the same color or two different colors at the same time) and because you crochet with a large hook size...typically size N or P... the afghans work up quickly.

The one afghan I made was called Golden Waves, which called for a four-color pattern of soft waves. I made it for my nephew in blues and earth tones. He picked out the pattern himself from this book after looking through all my afghan books! It was fun to make and my nephew is very happy with it. Check out the photo I posted here.

Can you tell I like this book?! So did a couple of co-workers who looked at my copy and then went out to buy their own!

This is a wonderful book for quick beautiful Afghans! From very basic to more advanced, there is something for everyone. All patterns are worked with two or more strands at a time, while still providing a wide range of patterns! There are basic filets, granny square, 'mile-a-minute' type, and everything in between, there are even baby patterns. Tons of fun and hours of enjoyment! Enjoy!

This is a wonderful how-to book for beginning quilters. It has step-by-step instructions for many different projects and includes many of the most popular quilting patterns. The projects are modest (squares, runners, placemats, totes, wall hangings, etc.) and well matched to a beginner's skill progression. The price is very reasonable also. All in all, it is a very good buy.

I have a good amount of sewing experience so I was hesitant about purchasing this book thinking it might be too basic. Also, I wondered if I would be interested in actually completing many of the projects. I am glad I made the purchase! I have no experience in machine quilting so I appreciate the detailed, simple instructions. Most of the projects are ones I actually want to make and use or could give as gifts. I would say more except that I would just be echoing all the positive things previously written. If you would rather learn machine quilting from a book rather than a in a quilting class, this is the book for you!

The Thimbleberries line of fabrics are so warm and yummy they are like snuggling in your mothers lap. The patterns in this book are simple, uncongested and just plain calming. They almost force you to slow down and soak up the warmth of a fireplace and the security of your home. If your not on the war path to really impress your friends or to out-do the Jones's than get this for some good ole fashioned patterns that you can imagine your great grandmother stitching. Maybe one day your great grand-daughter will still be snuggling in it.

Even to just curl up with on the couch to look at.

There's a beautiful selection of quilts, with a 'down-to-earth' appeal. Over the past couple years, I've become a big fan of Lynette Jensen's work, and she did a great job on this book! (I've had this book for quite awhile but never got the chance to comment until now, as I spent alot of my spare time quilting.)

The best way I can describe these quilts are that they give you this 'cozy country' feeling. From wallhangings, to pillows, to placemats and tablerunners to fullsize quilts, its one of those books which will remain in my quilting library for years. I really like practically all of the quilts inside this book, which is quite a rare thing to say about a book. I'd highly recommend it!

As a freehand embroiderer for more than a couple of decades, I purchased this book a few years ago and have thoroughly enjoyed it. I must admit that I buy books like this as much to enjoy reading as to learn from. Unlike a prior reviewer, I won't criticize Ms. Fahl for having a different artistic vision that I might have--and my work is quite different from hers. So what? This book is presented as a jumping-off point for the buyer's creativity. This book is a great companion to Ms. Fahl's DVD presentation on working with thread; I have reviewed it separately. For a beginner, this can be a very good first resource.
