This book is very concise and yet includes all of the details necessary for completing a first time quilt or instructing a
child to create one of many quilts. I like that there are instructions given on how to deviate from the sample to create your
own unique quilt. The tips for teaching children are excellent. The tools and supplies section and finishing techniques are
also very helpful. I will be refering to this book when I plan my next children's quilting class. A must have reference for
any new quilting teacher.

Barbara Eikmeier's Traditional Quilts For Kids To Make expands the quilting idea to children's hands, presenting classic patterns
which have been selected and sewn by kids. Where other titles limit projects to wall quilts and blocks, this provides larger
more satisfying kid-friendly projects for 15 traditional styles and larger pieces.

If you're a quilter who always wanted to try machine applique, this book is a must. Easy reading instructions that give immediate,
perfect results. It's a winner. I carry it to work with me just to be able to read through it when I have a few minutes
free time. I wish I had found it years ago. Debra Wagner is a precious find. I will certainly be ordering her other books.

Debra starts a chapter on binding with the sentence "I adore piped bindings". Thanks to the well-written instructions & great
illustrations, I do too! She covers more than piping - making it easy to try some of the other techniques that can change
an ordinary quilt into a WOW quilt. This book is definitely a MUST-HAVE for me.

In machine-technique workshops, Ricky Tims refers to this book as his "Bible." Crammed with great techniques, and many are
EASIER ways to do things that look NICER than what you've been taught to do. From the cover it looks like a book about applique,
but it caused a big reduction in my cursing about binding and finishing.

The quilts in this book are breathtakingly beautiful with using only squares. If you're sick of dealing with half-square
triangles (I sure am!) you're sure to find something you like in this book. It's not in print anymore, but I bought it used
through Amazon and was very pleased with the perfect condition (and price) of the book.

Some quilting books are a disappointment and don't deliver the content you expect from the cover, but "Two-Hour Quilted Christmas

than I expected. Although the hardcover price was hard to accept I think I will get my money's worth because I will actually

This is an excellent, well set out book with clear instructions to make suck quilts as:
Berried Treasures
Bishopdale
D'Urville
Fifeshire
Marble Mountain
Sandy Bay
Tasman Bay
Trafalgar Square and others.
Using Joyce's Squirty & Squiffy family of quilting shorthand one look through this book should make you think "I can make that."
I have very successfully made mitred borders with Joyce's instructions - they're now a breeze!!!
Quilts are photographed on location (eg Berried Treasures in a Berryfruit garden) in and around Nelson, Top of South Island of New Zealand.

This book is more than what it might seem at first look. Yes, it is a primer for making simple traditional-style quilts.
Beginners as well as more experienced quilters will have excellent results using Joyce Jones' easy techniques, largely new
to America. One happy fact is that no triangles have to be cut or pieced to create any of the many new designs in the book
- hard to believe, but true! The author presents her system of quilt construction and her "quilt shorthand" language for
analyzing any traditional quilt patterns clearly and with humor. But what I found even more intriguing are the many original
designs themselves. I've been quilting for a number of years, and I'm pretty familiar with traditional designs. These quilts
look like they might have been made one hundred years ago by our great grandmothers - almost! In each case, there is a freshness
to the design; a bit of a different look that lets the reader know this book comes from somewhere else - New Zealand in this
case. I'm tempted to make several of these quilts, because I know that each one is going to look original and refreshingly
new to my fellow quilters. If you like to piece, like the geometry of traditional designs but want to make something just
a bit different from the usual, and want to work quickly and accurately, give this book a try. The author covers, with thoroughness
and clarity and excellent illustrations and photos, the basics of fabric selection, preparation, all the steps in quilt construction,
and finishing techniques. From inspiration to standing back and listening to the complements, this book will be an invaluable
guide to you in your next several projects.

This is one of my favorite quilting books! Mary Lou teaches you how to unlock the creative genius that lies within, bend the
rules, make your own, and create beautiful, whimsical, creative quilts. There are so many creative quilts in this book you
can look at it again, and again, and again. Mary Lou's approach to quilting is like a breath of fresh air - her quilts all
look folk-artsy and whimsical and each one tells a story. This is a must have for any serious-about-not-being-serious quilter!

i had seen this book reviewed in a quilting magazine, and made a vague mental note to look into it. then, i found it at a
local quilt shop, looked into it, and bought it.
the author is an award-winning quilter, and it is her work that is featured in the book. her quilts are breathtaking, varied, and beautiful. the photos and illustrations are first rate. the instructions are detailed and straight-forward. the author assumes her readers have functioning brains and the desire to learn and excel. there are instructions for specific quilts in the text and also many additional quilting designs. the author also includes suggestions for adapting designs to quilting which are very helpful.
highly recommnded.

Calendar quilt patterns are usually very similar. BUT NOT THE CALENDAR QUILT PATTERNS in this book!! Bev inserts JUST A
LITTLE BIT MORE in each of her monthly patterns (eg: instead of just a heart for Feb., she places a bouquet of roses tied
with ribbon behind the heart; a delightful teapot and steaming cup for March has additional little cakes with clever embroidery
added to the frosting; a lovely June wreath of roses with a bow adorn that block). And to top it off, when you are finished
with each of these blocks, they add together to make a QUEEN sized quilt!! Or, if you don't want a big quilt, Bev gives directions
to make a great interchangeable wall hanging. Great work, Bev. A GREAT buy for QUILT STORES -- Bev has a disclaimer that
allows stores to use her blocks for BOM quilts. Check into that store owners.
A DEFINATE buy!

This book is a must have for anyone who is trying to teach themselves embroidery.
The book is a step by step guide with fabulous photos and instructions on how to perform the stitches. This is the first book in a growing series put out by the fine folks at Country Bumpkin down in Australia. I own 7 out of the 10 books in the series :-)
I own the spiral copy- and it's great, there are newer versions with a covered spiral, and that is great as well. Those newer versions make it easier to view your collection when it's on the bookshelf - that's the only difference.
BTW, most of the stitch diagrams came from issues of Inspirations Magazine, a fabulous and pricey magazine. The title sounds pretentious, but it's for real. You will be inspired when you look through the magazine. To save paper, the folks at the magazine only include stitch diagrams for new stuff - so you need this book if you don't have all the back copies. It seems like a marketing ploy - but it's not - the book & the magazines are all worth the money.

worth it -- a superb publication from which I have taught many students here and overseas.

I originally signed this book out of the public library, and ended up giving it back 2 weeks late! I knew I had to find a
copy, so I went to amazon.com. I am a fairly experienced quilter, with over 20 quilts and 2 blue ribbons to my name, and
this book showed me patterns I had never seen before. I love using patchwork techniques, and this book features patchwork
designs from the 1930's, including State Fair, Fair and Square and Leavenworth 9-Patch, to name a few of my favorites. This
book will be a valuable addition to anyone's personal library, if you are a quilter.

An excellent book for beginners, young or old. I love the variety of blocks, 15 of them in all. Most books for kids do not contain as many. Kids Start Quilting with Alex Anderson, for example, has only 5 blocks to choose from.
The author's other book, Kids Can Quilt is also wonderful and I recommend having them both.
