This book has lots of inspiring quilts! From cozy country to sweet pastels to jazzy modern quilts, they all are great! I
find I am picking up the book when I have a free moment or two just to browse, I seem to learn something new each time, or
get a new idea to try on my next quilt project. I like that they feature a variety of styles, applique and patchwork, and
offer tips on sewing curves and have some feathered quilting designs. I cant think of how they could make this any better!
A Must Have

I own the Great American Quilts books starting from 1987. They are among my most treasured books. I love these books because
they include quilts from all over the country and from quilters of all different degrees of experience. My favorite part is
seeing the photograph of the actual quilter (or quilters) and reading the history as to how they got involved in quilt making
or what was the inspiration for their quilt or the history of the quilt's making. The photographs of the quilts are beautifully
taken and color rich. Also included are the patterns for most of the quilts including the templates and fabric requirements.
What could be more enjoyable than owning a book that captures the history and advances of quilt making? Truly a must have.

This book has a wonderful variety of patterns, both applique and patchwork, beginners and advanced quilters both will find
patterns to their skill level. I also like the little tips scattered throughout the book, like working with little half triangle
squares, making yo-yos. Some of the instructions also come with fancy quilting patterns, which I find very helpful. I
also enjoy the little articles about the quiltmakers and their inspiration for making that particular quilt. I also find
myself just looking through this book when I need to be inspired to finish another project!

After reading through this book, I look at the world in a whole new way. Everything is a possible quilt design, now! Diana
is an inspiration to beginners like myself - her exercises and techniques are REAL. I use them daily!
The title doesn't lie - truly an inspiring book!

This book is the "must have" for quilters looking to break out of the traditional mold. Many books by artists rely on a knowledge
of art that few of us who are not artists have, and show page after page of beautiful creations with only vague references
to technique and inspiration. Inspiration Odyssey, on the other hand, tells us not only where to find inspiration, but what
to do with it once it's been found! Not just another project book, this book provides insight into the mind of the artist
- where she gets her inspirations, how she interprets them, how she documents, evolves, and executes a design, and some of
the final products.
This is an artist's book for the non-artist. Finally, a book that gives some direction around the creative process! This
is the first quilting book that I have been eager to read cover to cover - in fact, I can't put it down, and keep returning
to its pages for new inspirations. A definite 10!

Very good book for beginners and even seasoned quilters. I never thought of doing applique the way she shows in the book.
It's a little difficult at first but she explains it very well and with a little practice you wonder why you weren't doing
it this way in the first place!!! Ami Simms has a great sense of humor which I enjoyed all through the book!! The humor alone
was worth the price!!!

Ami's techniques are incredible. Never again do I have stitches showing on the edges of my applique. Her methods allow you
to create an applique seam that sinks into the work, instead. If you are a beginner, this is how you need to learn. And
if you are an expert, this will help you improve. Detailed instruction and drawings are included and confusion is next to
none. I lived in fear of this method of quiltmaking and could just kick myself for what I was missing! Reasonably priced
as well. You can't beat it!
You CAN do it, too!!

This book is great. I have tried applique before and thought I did a pretty good job but this book showed me how I could do
better and it was so easy. I actually checked this book out at my local library. I learned so much from it I wanted it to
keep. I tried to buy it from the library. They wouldn't sell it. I am glad I found it here because my local book stores do
not carry this book. If you have ever appliqued or are interested in trying out applique but are afraid you can't do it, wait
no longer. Order this book - YOU CAN DO IT TOO and you will be very pleased with the results!!

and as a relaxing eye treat at the end of a long day. I have checked it out of the library many, many times. So many of Kaffe
Fassett's books are gorgeous - I find this one particularly so.

These quilts are truly different. They are colorful and almost each of them employs a different technique. I keep going back
to the little box looking through all the quilts and have already purchased the fabric for the first one. Unlike in other
books I like about half of them enough to plan on making them.

I may be biased, as I am the author's sister-in-law, but these quilts are darling! I've never seen baby quilts that make
such wonderful use of color and texture. If you're looking for unique designs that will catch baby's eye, this is the box
of designs you want.
My favorite design for its use of rich color contrast is "Sad Days, Hippie Days" which combines a tie-dyed background fabric with blocks of happy and sad smiley faces. A close runner-up for me is "Elementary!" which features green, yellow, and red striped blocks on a deep violet background.
If you're looking for a textured quilt, take a look at "Inch by Inch", a pattern that turns fuzzy fabric into cheery caterpillars with bright, smiley faces. And, I think most of us love the "I Love Mama" pattern, with the big fluffy heart right in the middle.
Any pattern you choose from this 20-pattern collection is bound to be baby's favorite blanky.

Jenny Wilding Cardon's The Little Box of Baby Quilts is a set of project cards that can be used to produce inspirational and
quick designs for boys and girls. These are portable cards in a box, each holding step-by-step directions, a color photo and
templates, and even an introduction to basic techniques for beginners. The quilts use a blend of quick piecing and easy applique
techniques. While not appropriate for library lending, they are perfect for the quilter who wants a quick, take-along inspirational
project card.

I just recently read "Log Cabin Quilts A Brand New Story" by Karen Murphy. I am not a quilter, yet, however I have sewn
quite a bit in my lifetime. When I received "Log Cabin Quilts A Brand New Story" I must admit I read the facinating stories
of Abby before I actually looked at the quilts. I was enthralled with Abby and her preceptions of her new life on the northern
frontier. How she longed for a few moments to pick up her quilting and enjoy a few moments to dream of an easier life.
As I finished the stories I wished for a continuation of Abby's life. Since there is not yet another book by Karen Murphy I started looking at the beautiful pictures of her quilts and begin to think, "Maybe I could do these beginning ones"...
Just reading "Log Cabin Quilts-A brand new story" has given me a glimpse of a new hobby for myself.....I am going to try.
I highly recommend "Log Cabin Quilts A Brand New Story" to anyone. It is beautiful, insightful, and somehow the stories of Abby brings us back to a simpler life style, an appreciation for the life of those women who worked so hard to suvive yet found joy in the beauty of quilting.

What a delight to have such a book! Not only is it clear and concise with directions to make beautiful designs from traditional
blocks, like the Log Cabin, but reading the story of Abby and her family.
It just made my heart sing as I read the stories through the chapters and pieced my quilt. I felt like I was right there along with the rest of the family! A superb 'how to' instructional book on piecing and techiniques and a joy to make the memories just like Abby!!!
Beautiful colors and lay outs of the different designs and what a treat to see new and different ways to use this wonderful Log Cabin block! This book is Definitely on my Christmas shopping list for friends!
