On first flick I thought Yeah Great! the stuff in this book really nice and I'd love to have most of it somewhere in my house...where can I buy them!! On second read I soon started to relise that producing great finishes on furniture, lamp shades, curtains, floors and walls is not as hard as it looks and even someone like ME can achieve it. This book is fantastically laid out with big colourful, basic pictures which take you through the procedures step by step from start to finished product. It's an excellent book if you want some great, and visually stunning effects around the house without needing a degree in interior or graphic design. There are even templates in the back if you want to use the patterns straight from the book. There are also many different colour samples if you're not to sure of what colours go well together. It's also great for making gifts too! If you like to dabble in a little bit of art and craft then this book should definately make it to your bookshelf.

It would be inappropriate to reveal details of this intense thriller, The Grosvenor Square Goodbye. We begin with uncertainties, and are unsure about the characters, their actions, their motivations, and by what means the plot might bring them together. Francis Clifford's plot is superbly crafted from start to finish. The suspense never falters and the outcome is always uncertain.

I was unfamiliar with Francis Clifford. But, the rave reviews on the back cover of The Grosvenor Square Goodbye paperback made my buying decision easy. Ross MacDonald says: An extraordinary thriller! Chicago Tribune Book World: Superbly suspenseful ..... Clifford at his story-telling best! Publishers Weekly: One of the best suspense thrillers ..... tantalizing!

My paperback copy of The Grosvenor Square Goodbye was published in 1988 by Academy Chicago Publishers. Apparently, it was first published in 1974 under the title Good-Bye and Amen. With a little help from the internet, I learned that Francis Clifford was a pseudonym for Arthur Leonard Bell Thompson (1917-1975).

Movie buffs might be aware that in 1967 Frank Sinatra played the key role in the film version of The Naked Runner, Clifford's most popular book. This cold war espionage thriller was directed by Sidney Furie and produced by Brad Dexter.

The series of volumes encompasses a full range of information from historical data to specific piece identification. Research & depictions are quite clear & detailed. A must-have reference for collectors. Information is impeccable, both authors exceptional. Reasonable investment.

I am usually the kind of buyer that likes a lot of illustrations in a book to keep my interest. While the author includes many quality photos in this book his detailed knowledge of Gustav Stickley was more than enough to keep me interested. David Cathers has done his research well and gives a very detailed history of this great American craftsman. Even readers not familiar with this Gustav Stickley or the Arts & Crafts movement will find this book easy to read and understand. Overall a must have companion to David Cathers earlier "Stickley Style" which happens to be loaded with beautiful illustrations.

For anyone interested in a variety of different art mediums, this is the book that has it all. A wonderful pictorial of one man's life and works. It encompasses a vast knowledge of many creative forms of designing talent and creativity. From wood and stone carvings to furniture design, this coffee table type book is the one to have. The photos are wonderful and the descriptions informative. All of his pieces, from whimsical to serious speak for themselves. A must have for any artist or layman. I recommend it highly.

I am a rookie carver so I purchased this book for learning and fun. It has a great section on tools and how to use and care for them. Then it has step by step instructions that are easy to follow and will give you great results. I carved the Pumpkins and the Mummy and everybody really likes them, but it was easy using this book !!

Timothy Fisher's book "Hammocks, Hassocks & Hideaways", is a great out of print book. I picked it up at the library. I am currently making the Ferro-cement outdoor furniture in the shape of a llama. I would like to write to the author but cannot find an address online. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Meanwhile, if your have kids (even if you don't) and love to be creative with how much or how little space you have, check this one out!

Since I'm in a hot-weather climate, even thinking of sweaters makes me and all my giftees squirm. The last sweater I knitted was for the mean nasty Chihuahua upstairs, and boy, was it ugly (the sweater, I mean--or do I?) Therefore, I have a big interest in non-garment knits. I've bitten on several books, like Erika Knight's, that were nice, but incredibly simple--good for brides or expectant mothers who want to nest, but bo-ring for veterans. However, this book changes all that--it's beautiful, tasteful, elegant... and you'd actually choose some of these things. Although it's pitched to beginners, there were some techniques I was glad to pick up, like the knitted bath rug project. The other good thing is the variety of materials; many reviews have discussed the patterns that are simple and beautiful because they have million-dollar yarns that carry the show, which is fine but a gypper in terms of actual pattern design. This book actually uses rags, string and plain ole worsted as well as the elegant, spendy yarns, and I didn't see one that couldn't be worked in a less expensive fiber. I can't wait to make these projects, and none of my friends need worry as Christmas looms.

This is the absolute best reference book on Handel lighting - period. Defalco & Company show that they are the number one authority on the subject of Handel. I have seen many reference publications with examples of Handel lighting but never such a comprehensive work such as this.

The book explains each detail so precisely yet so simply. The animals and foliage appear three-dimensional and almost life-like. The lists of paints and supplies is a great help and the photos throughout the book are terrific -- shows details and step-by-step instructions. A wonderful learning tool!
