This is an excellent book, very well illustrated, and includes pieces of furniture readily available in the marketplace, as well as those superb examples seen only in the finest shops and museums. The quantity of photographs makes it easy to distinguish the relative merits of different related objects. I highly recommend it.

It is a collection of tips garnered over the years. Enough of them are really good to make the purchase worthwhile. Most of them will require a certain amount of experience to understand how to implement them.

I thought the book was fun and I look forward to using some of the tips, especially for the drill press, router, and table saw.

This book has more little slips of paper sticking out the top than any other book in my shop library. As you page through this book you'll find solutions to problems you didn't even know you had.

Make use of Amazon's "Look Inside" to view the table of contents. This puppy is loaded with practical tips that make use of easy to find materials and don't require a shop full of tools.

I own more than a dozen of the Fine Woodworking books and this one is by far the most helpful. It's cheap enough to pick up and you'll be rewarded with a useful book regardless of your skill level.

This is one of the best books to ever be published on RoycroftFurniture. it not only lists furniture but hundreds of other items produced by roycroft and sold for top dollar on the auction block. and lists the auction houses that sold the items, this book deserves more than five stars, great book , and excellent author, worth much more than its retail price,,

WOW,I can not praise this book enough...
I purchased the 1st edition in '90 for a few hundred dollars, and refer to this work constantly, it is just irreplaceable.
Richly and profusely illustrated, 312 pages of a good read,and not much fluff.
"Chance Favors the Prepared Mind", and after poring over this book for 7 years, I "chanced" upon a PAIR of Russian Empire ormolu mounted mahogany bergeres at an estate sale.This one book, more than any other, has rewarded me in every way. Truly... a MUST HAVE.

I cannot recommend this book more. We are very lucky it is back in print. A year ago you couldn't find a copy... The book is well written and researched, the illustrations are excellent and no collector, dealer or Russophile should be without it.

I love this book and got quite a few wonderful ideas from it for my new home.

I would highly recommend this book to anyone "sewing machine challenged." Who knew that you could make everything from ottomans to drapes to rugs...all without a stitch! I'm looking forward to tackling several projects in this book!

Please note that this excellent book is 96 pages, not 3 as indicated, and that it is the second of three volumes in a series.

This handbook literally covers the globe in terms of this group. Since there are relatively few living species of whales, dolphins, and porpoises a single handbook can cover them all, and I believe that this one does.

There is a map of the world in the book that divides the oceans into 8 zones for convenience in discussing geographic ranges of the animals covered in the text.

The book includes overview material on the ecology and natural history of these animals in general. It also has a section dedicated to each individual species. Each species section includes an extremely nice painting of the animal, BW photographs, a narative description of the animal, and information on the animal's range, behavior, natural history, and conservation status.

Overall an excellent handbook on the cetacea.

Not a particularly good field guide, as all cetacean genera and species are covered. I grab this book quite frequently when refreshing my mind on the distribution and distinguishing characteristics of a cetacean outside my field of expertise. For those interested in even more meaty fare, pick up Richard Ellis' 'The Book of Whales' and 'Dolphins and Porpoises'. Both books are must have additions to the serious cetologist's book shelf. My field guide of choice for North Pacific field study: Leatherwood et. al. 'Whales, Dolphins, and Porpoises of the Eastern North Pacific and Adjacent Arctic Waters: A guide to their Identification'.

Excellant photography. Simple instuctions and good tips. Addresses most paint and design techniques needed. Gives good ideas to create painted furniture with a personal touch. Well done.

This book provides all the information you might need to create painted furniture yourself.

I recommend it as concise, interesting with colored pictures and explanations. Good book for the topic.

As the other reviewer has said this book has very good illustrations and in many steps. It answered many of the questions I had on mitered corners and other things and so I will be able to use the other book I bought sewing edges and corners. One of the best books I've seen on this topic and sewing. I will certainly buy other books by creative publishing hoping that they will be good as this one. So this book is recommended for beginners with some experience.

This book is incredible! If you've ever seen any of the furniture collection at Colonial Williamsburg, this book gives you all the details on the key pieces in the collection that the tour-guides just can't answer. Each piece is photographed, both exterior view and an interior view (drawers out, doors open, etc...), and full measurements. The best feature is that it also provides extensive history on the style and construction of each piece, complete with construction details (down to every last dovetail!). I picked it up for the woodworking information, but this book is also excelent for the historian.
