China Porcelain and Glass Books

I found this book to be very informative. I have been collecting Lefton China for several years, and found this to be the most helpful book that has yet to be published.

The book *is* available!
It differs completely from all the other porcelain books. And what is best: you can get any information quickly owing to the alphabetical listings. It would be wonderful to have such a reference book for each of the traditional European porcelain manufactories.

Books such as these have fine photographs for English Porcelain collectors to see. In this case, the text, by expert Simon Spero is equally fine and illuminating. Ed Schwartz

Gillian Wilson is the curator of decorative arts at the Getty Museum and draws upon her considerable expertise to provide an informative, authoritative commentary on each of thirty-two objects, ranging from 1665 to 1785, selected from the Getty Museum collection, and showcased in this beautiful survey including the marks, provenance, exhibitions, and publications of each piece. Superb color and b/w photography wonderfully illustrates each piece. Mounted Oriental Porcelain In The J. Paul Getty Museum is an attractive, engaging, and beautifully produced volume that would grace any personal, academic, or community library artbook collection.

For anyone interested in this facinating subject...this book is the "bible!" Thank you Betty Monkman for updating this history and for letting "fans of the White House" like me - be able to learn so much! I truly dream of someday having dinner off some of this china!

This author has extensively researched a previously little-known subject. This book is so complete that I think auction houses will use it as a reference. The photographs are stunning and the line drawings extremely detailed. Prices are listed for each item, which is most helpful. What is invaluable is the effort the author has made to trace the manufacturers of as many shoes as possible. What a bonus for shoe collectors!

I picked the book up this weekend & it was love at firstsight! I have been a collector of RSP for 10 years & a club memberfrom the start of q collecting. I have used the RSP books as my guide for molds & authenticating unmarked pieces. This book has shown so many new molds, & has so many original catalog cuts included to add to interest.
